Hope 4 The Holidays
When Mateen Cleaves introduced his “1 Goal, 1 Passion” Hope For the Holidays campaign to wrap up a successful community outreach run in 2013, the team at Meijer continued to show support as a premier sponsor. During the holiday season, working with the Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons, Fox Sports Detroit, Fathead, non-profit partners and other members of the sports and business community, the program provided help to over 1,000 families, impacting more than 4,000 people overall.
Families participating in the program were selected from the Lansing, Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Detroit and Flint areas by the United Way, Habitat for Humanity and the Boys & Girls Clubs, the non-profit partners of the “1 Goal, 1 Passion: Hope for the Holidays” project. Each family received comprehensive holiday gift packages including, toys and gifts for each family member, healthcare assistance, personal finance recommendations for saving and budgeting, as well as United Way job counseling and placement services. As part of its commitment, Meijer also provided the 1,000 participating families hard-hit by Michigan’s tough economic time, a $100 Meijer gift card to help buy groceries and seasonal household items.
In 2014, with the help of our partners, sponsors, supporters and friends, we hope to expand our reach to benefit even more Michigan families and communities through our core 1 Goal, 1 Passion programs: Book & Basketballs, Summer Basketball Camps, and Hope for the Holidays campaign. We look forward to your continued support in 2014!
